LEAVENWORTH, KAN. - The University of Saint Mary had an outstanding weekend in the pool, showcasing impressive performances in various events at their home quad meet. The Spires' relay teams and individual swimmers delivered notable results, securing several top finishes.
Women's Highlights:
- The women's 200-yard medley relay "A" team (Sydney Jones, Ainsley Duell, Maria Trotta, and Taya Swarts) led the pack with a winning time of 1:59.02.
- Neena Lorenz dominated the 1000-yard freestyle, taking first place with a time of 12:18.79.
- In the 100-yard backstroke, Sydney Jones claimed victory in 1:05.52, while Mandy Butscher followed closely with a solid time of 1:09.05.
- The women excelled in the sprint events, with Taya Swarts winning the 50-yard freestyle in 25.71, followed closely by Maria Trotta (26.10) and Sania Cay (26.13).
- In the 100-yard freestyle, Swarts placed second with a quick 55.53, with Trotta and Cay finishing third and fourth, respectively.
Men's Highlights:
The Spires demonstrated both depth and skill in this meet, with a mix of top finishes and strong showings that highlight the team's continued progress this season.
