The University of Saint Mary men's wrestling program comes off a hugely successful 2024-2025 season with the earning the KCAC regular season title, KCAC Championship title, two All-American wrestlers in returner
Brody Gee and USM alum
Hartwell Taylor, a 13
th place finish in the NAIA National Championship Tournament and reigning KCAC Men's Wrestler of the Year, just to name a few.
Â
USM had, by all accounts, their most successful season last year and the new Spire squad is looking forward to another dominate season in the quickly approaching 2025-2026 campaign with head coach,
Chuck Kearney, still at the helm with assistants
Riley Jaramillo and
Gabe Blough, two former USM wrestlers, with Director of Ops/Head AT
Raeann Bromert. "When you have success, it breeds success," coach Kearney remarked optimistically as he takes a look ahead of what this year could bring for the Spires.
Â
The University of Saint Mary is thrilled to have a few key returners such as previously mentioned
Brody Gee, not only the reigning KCAC Wrestler of the Year, but also a third-place finisher in the NAIA National Tournament just one year ago.
Josey Jernegan, a junior from Skiatook High School is currently ranked #6 in the country,
Gabe Chesbro in the 197-weight class and
Michael Ager in the 174-weight class are also nationally ranked coming into this year.
Â
Coach Kearney and the staff not only have a great veteran squad to rely on, but a very eager new bunch of athletes to add into the mix such as
Caden Gallet,
Cayson Hart,
Graham Kilpper,
Keith Slaughter,
Matthew Ager, and Ben Smith (3x State Champion) have all made their presence known in weeks of grueling fall training, and showcasing the depths of success they are each capable of. As preseason has come to an end and the official kick-off for the Spires approaches the ceiling is extremely high for this group.
