Wichita, Kan.—Spire women's wrestling opened up their 2025-2026 season at the highly competitive Falcon Open on Friday, October 31st through Saturday, November 1
st at Hartman Arena.
Sophomore
Destiny Jones shined brightly in the 103-pound weight class, clinching 1st place with a series of impressive victories. Jones scored a narrow 6-5 victory over Brooke Corrigan of OSU and continued her winning streak with a 14-9 triumph over Zoey Mzeru from Central Methodist University. Her crowning achievement came with the quickest fall of the tournament, taking down Kimberly Navarette from Doane in just 14 seconds.
Amelia Frounfelter also had a great weekend in the 160-weight class, securing 4th place after a series of notable victories which included a strong 10-0 win by major decision over Doane's Aspen Barber and a 4-2 victory against Baker's Elizabeth Cope. Despite her strong performance, Frounfelter faced a setback with a 10-0 defeat at the hands of WBU's Mercy Adekuoroye.
Freshman
Faith James also made headlines in her collegiate debut at the 138-weight class, securing 4th place with consecutive wins which included overcoming Brissa Bernal from Murray State, a 4-0 win over MSC's Kamryn Flores, and a dominant 9-0 major decision victory against Julia Nunez.
Spire women's wrestling will face Graceland University in their home opener on Thursday, November 6
