McPherson, Kan.—Spire women's basketball delivered a dagger of a performance against the McPherson College Bulldogs this evening, Saturday, December 6th, at Holman Fieldhouse in McPherson, Kansas, triumphing with a final score of 90-61.
The evening began with McPherson taking an early lead, but the Spires quickly took control with an aggressive offensive presence starting with a few from deep from senior leader
Summer Wieneke and junior
Keely Barnard. By the end of the first quarter, USM had built a nearly 20-point lead, concluding the first at 29-11. The second quarter opened up strong for the Spires, capitalizing on foul troubles by the Bulldogs, furthering their already comfortable lead through free throws and stops on the defensive end, marked particularly by huge blocks from 6'7 sophomore,
Cady Huffman. The halftime score stood at 46-28 in favor of your Spires.
Momentum continued to open up the final half of play, as USM controlled the tempo with a few fast break buckets and standout performances from
Riley Kerwin and
Abby Wendte, pushing the lead to a commanding 71-49. In the fourth and final quarter of action, Saint Mary's depth truly stepped up and came ready to play with 53 total points on the evening coming from the bench, sealing a dominant 90-61 win. Notable players included

th—rescheduled from Dec. 1st—at Ryan Sports Center in Leavenworth, Kansas. The USM women currently hold a season record of 6-4 and a KCAC tally of 3-2.
