Spires Dominate with 7-0 Sweep of Tabor, Extend Win Streak

Hillsboro, KS – The University of Saint Mary men's tennis team delivered a resounding performance sweeping Tabor College by a decisive 7-0 margin. The dominant showing on the road marks the Spires' second consecutive victory, improving their overall record to 5-6.

Saint Mary set the tone early by securing all three doubles matches. The No. 1 duo of Evan Maritz and Nils Dueppe cruised to victory. Carlos Grimaldi and Nudem Koyuncu followed suit at No. 2 doubles, making quick work of their opponents. The No. 3 pairing of Leyton Ross and Jack Contrucci completed the doubles sweep, battling to victory.

Carrying their momentum into singles play, the Spires continued their stellar performance, claiming all six matches in straight sets. Carlos Grimaldi led the charge at No. 1 singles, dispatching his opponent with a convincing victory. Nils Dueppe followed suit at the No. 2 spot, making quick work of his competitor.

Evan Maritz secured another point for the Spires at No. 3 singles, overcoming a slightly tighter second set to defeat his opponent. Nudem Koyuncu continued the winning streak at No. 4 singles, earning a solid victory.

In the No. 5 singles match, Jack Contrucci faced a tougher challenge in the second set but ultimately prevailed in a tiebreaker. Leyton Ross capped off the dominant performance for the Spires at No. 6 singles, securing a comfortable victory.
