The University of Saint Mary Men's XC team traveled to Lincoln Nebraska this past Saturday, September 20
th to compete in the Woody Greeno/Jay Dirkson Invite, co-hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan University and The University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Spire men finished 3
rd overall as a team in the 8000-meter race. Familiar faces
Kenneth Howell and Aleks Krikov finished closely at 7
th place (25:15.0) and 11
th place (25:29.0) respectively out of 236 other runners. Fellow Spire
Jonah Godina finished in 25
th place with a time of 25:54.3 and
Derebe Carr close behind in 27
th place and a time of 25:56.1.
Head Coach,
Alstin Benton, optimistically outlined the weekend stating, "The team is making solid progress for the season so far. We are doing a good job at learning how to stay competitive and focused for 20 plus minutes which is crucial for our success in the long run. Now we have to take that competitive focus and narrow in on the race specific aspect of training and racing."Â

Spire XC will be back in action at the University of Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday, October 4
th in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
