Edmund, Okla.--Spire Women's Swimming competed in the Sam Freas Invitational in Edmond, Oklahoma this past weekend on Saturday, September 27
th. The Spires concluded the weekend with a total of 167 points, securing a 6th place finish.
The invitational saw remarkable efforts from both new and returning members of the team. Freshman swimmers like
Kaitie Coleman, and
Leah Rogers made significant contributions to kick-off their collegiate careers. Seasoned athletes such as
Ayla Pierce,
Olivia Ringle,
Ava Steier, and
Reagan Salsbury continued to demonstrate their strengths, contributing heavily to the team's overall performance.
Sophomore
Taya Swarts remarkably achieved two individual NAIA National B cuts in the 50-yard and 100-yard Freestyle events. Senior swimmer MaryBeth Clark was another standout, securing B cuts in the 100-yard and 200-yard Butterfly. Clark also set a new school record in the 200-yard Butterfly with a time of 2:13.41, marking a milestone for the senior from Kansas City.
Head Coach
David Bresser was excited about his teams first outing explaining, "It was great to get the season started with some excellent competition. Our new swimmers were exposed to some of the best swimmers in D2 and had the chance to compete in a great pool. This is always a good way to get the season underway.
