Spire Men's Soccer Triumphant Over the Tigers

In a thrilling 90 minutes, the University of Saint Mary Spires secured a decisive 3-0 victory against the Doane Tigers. The match showcased the Spires' grit, remaining scoreless at halftime but turning the tide in the second half to clinch the win.

The game was a staunch defensive battle until Daniel Castro of the Spires broke the deadlock shortly after halftime at 49:35. The momentum continued as Jude Rodwell, assisted by Robin Van Voorst, added to the tally at 63:46. Castro, solidifying his role as a key player, netted a second goal at 76:06, ultimately sealing the victory for Saint Mary.

Goalkeeper Ricardo Perez delivered an outstanding performance, making 8 saves and maintaining a clean sheet throughout the game. His efforts were crucial in thwarting the Tigers and contributing to the Spires' shutout victory.

With this win, the Spires improve their season record to 2-1-0. The team looks forward to their next challenge on their home turf at Berkel Memorial Stadium in Leavenworth on Saturday, September 6 where they will face Dordt University.
