Leavenworth, Kan.—The University of Saint Mary and the KCAC are thrilled to announce
Ian Lucas was named the KCAC Men's Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Despite its name, this award typically covers a two-week period, in order to match with the NAIA swimming & diving biweekly honors. Student-athletes are selected for their performances from Dec. 15-Jan. 18 (dates in consideration extended due to the holidays in December) by a vote of conference Sports Information Directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by
Athletic Solutions.
Lucas has posted multiple extremely solid performances in the last couple weeks, hitting NAIA "B," or provisional, qualifying marks in both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly, as well as being the anchor on several of the Spires' relay teams. This is adding to what has been an impressive junior campaign for the Cedar Rapids native. Head coach
David Bresser beamed about his outstanding upperclassman stating how strong of a competitor he's consistently been, with some of the biggest swims of the 2026 season just right around the corner.
Ian and his teammates are gearing up to compete in the KCAC Championship in Hobart, Indiana on Thursday, February 5
th through Saturday, February 7
th. To keep up with all things Spire swim, follow along at
