Leavenworth, Kan. —For the second time this season, USM's very own
Austin Howell has earned the KCAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor, the conference office announced Monday. Student-athletes were selected for their performances from Feb. 2-8 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by
Athletic Solutions.
Austin keeps getting better as the stage gets bigger for Spire T&F. This past weekend at the Bearcat Invite hosted by Northwest Missouri State. Howell stood out in the 1,000m run, finishing 3rd place overall out of 51 athletes with a final time of 2:29.25 to place him #2 overall in KCAC and #22 in all of NAIA. His impressive marks didn't stop here as Austin then finished strong in the men's mile with a time of 4:24, placing 22nd out of 65 competitors.
Howell and his Spire squad look to make their biggest mark yet as indoor season quickly approaches its end. USM will travel to the KCAC Indoor Championships on the campus of Wichita State beginning Friday, February 13th through Saturday the 14th.
