Asheville, NC.— As expected, USM has left their mark in North Carolina on the biggest stage in college T&F at the NAIA Outdoor T&F National Championships in Asheville. The Spires saw multiple athletes crowned All-Americans and one USM hurdler re-writing history as being the first hurdler in Spire T&F history to earn All-American Honors.

The Spire women would come in 39th as a team out of nearly seventy-five teams, notching 6 total team points.

The women's 4x100m Relay prelims, the USM squad consisting of Deslyne Cooper, Haley Sampson, Jordyn Miller-Knuckles, and Keiyah Cole would just narrowly miss the final slot coming in 9th overall. The Spire women would set a new season best time and NAIA No. 10 time with a mark of 46.03, just short of the Park University women's squad at 46.00 seconds.

Carly Holadia in the women's 1500m race would leave it all on the track in Asheville, finishing top twenty in the nation. The senior would post a final time of 4:54.83 to finish 19th overall on the big stage.

Jordyn Miller-Knuckles would sail through the preliminary round of the women's 100m hurdles, with a qualifying time of 13.85 seconds and a new personal best. Thrillingly, in Friday's final round of the 100mH Jordyn would become the first ever women's hurdler to earn All-American honors in Spire T&F history. Miller-Knuckles would finish her history outing coming in 7th at the national meet, with a final time of 14.17 seconds.

Carly Holadia in the women's 800m prelims would post top fifteen nationally. Holadia would not move on to the finals, but would finish strong coming in at 15th overall and a 2:13.79 time.

The sole Spire women's thrower, Keely Barnard, would finish strong in the women's javelin on Friday. The USM record holder would mark her best toss at 36.81m, coming in 36th overall in the nation.

The newest USM men's long jumper freshman standout Tyler Holmes, would make his presence known. Tyler would just narrowly miss the top ten, coming in 11th overall amongst the nations best with his further leap coming in at 7.16m (23-06.00) to kick off what will be a long career full of post-season appearances for the freshman.

Senior Josie Tyrrell would finish out her USM career adding another notch to her résumé. Josie held nothing back in her final nationals outing in Asheville coming in 5th overall in the women's 10K with a time of 36:17.84. This is Josie's 5th All-American medal in a Spire uniform, a story book ending to an incredible career.

The Spire women's 4x800 Relay squad consisting of Deslyen Cooper, Keiyah Cole, Hope Crabtree, and Haley Sampson would absolutely dominate to wrap up their season. They would come in 7th overall in the preliminary round with a new season best, a new NAIA No. 11 mark, and a final time of 3:47.28. In their final outing in NC, the USM women would battle to the finish coming in 9th overall with a 3:51.68 mark to wrap up their 2026 outdoor slate.

The USM men's 4x800m relay team consisting of Karlos Humphreys, Tristain Rogers, Riley Gibbs, and Daniel Craig would lay it all on the line in the preliminary round in Asheville, just missing the final outing. USM would finish 15th overall in the prelims with a final mark of 3:13.99 in their final outing.

Josie would wrap up her weekend in the women's 5K. The senior would eclipse the top twenty nationally, topping the charts at 18th in all NAIA with her final time of 18:36.38.

The University of Saint Mary is, as always, exceptionally proud of the USM T&F teams for the way they continuously represent their institution and the high standards they break year after year. The USM community is already looking forward to Spire T&F in the 2026-27 season!
