Leavenworth, Kan.— Spire men's soccer carried a one-goal lead into the final 11 minutes before Briar Cliff (IA) scored twice in a two-minute span to defeat the USM 2-1 this evening. Granjo delivered the decisive goal at 81:11, completing the visitors' second-half comeback.

The Spires struck first at 30:29. Luis Rincon converted an assist from Roberto Gomez to give Saint Mary a 1-0 advantage. The goal highlighted a productive performance from Luis Rincon, who placed two of three shots on goal. Roberto Gomez contributed at both ends of the field, adding two defensive saves to the assist.

The Spires protected the lead through halftime despite facing seven shots in the opening half. Briar Cliff increased its pressure against the short-handed defense and finished with a 19-9 advantage in shots and an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.

The Spires held firm until Barrios scored the equalizer at 79:11. Exactly two minutes later, Granjo put BC ahead 2-1 with the game-winning goal. Spire goalie Xavier Ezell made six saves for Saint Mary, while the home squad also recorded six defensive saves and one team save. Aaron Jackson and Roberto Gomez accounted for two defensive saves apiece.

Even after falling behind, the Spires continued to press for an equalizer. Aaron Jackson put a shot on goal at 87:32, but Attanasio made the save. Luis Rincon produced the Spires' final attempt at 88:44, sending the shot high.
