Leavenworth, Kan.— Matias Allou scored the equalizer in the 88th minute as the Spires overcame a two-goal deficit and earned a 2-2 draw against Northwestern College on Saturday, September 12. Allou's goal at 87:15 capped a determined comeback and moved the Spires to 0-2-2.

Northwestern built its early advantage with two goals in the opening 15 minutes. Morrison scored from a Zwinkels assist at 7:11, and Ilundain doubled the lead at 14:48 after receiving a pass from Miranda. Between the goals, Aaron Jackson made a defensive save on Miranda's shot to keep the Spires within one.

USM began their response at 25:04. Alfie Scandle set up Luis Rincon, who found the net to cut the Red Raiders lead to 2-1 entering halftime. Rincon finished with two shots, including one on goal, while Scandle recorded the assist in 52 minutes of action.

The Spires increased the pressure after halftime, out shooting Northwestern 4-1 in the second half. Xavier Ezell made a save on a Morrison attempt at 65:54 to preserve the one-goal margin. Mario Santoro then forced Northwestern goalkeeper Ingram into a save at 81:19, and Rylan Nowak tested Ingram again at 85:11.

The sustained attack paid off less than three minutes later when Allou converted with a team assist to level the score. The Spires finished with a 7-4 advantage in total shots, while each side placed four attempts on goal. Ezell recorded one goalkeeper save, Jackson added the defensive save, and the Spires held Northwestern without a goal throughout the second half to secure the draw.
