Saint Mary women's basketball took a 93-82 loss at Ottawa to resume play after the winter break. The Spires are now 5-10 overall and 4-5 in KCAC play.
Candy De Los Reyes led all Spires with 28 points in the loss. Three other Spires scored in double figures with Imani White scoring 17 points, Kelsey Switzer scoring 11 points, and Ashley Hinkle scoring 10. Hinkle also had a team high five assists. Kiera Tate led Saint Mary in rebounds with eight.
Saint Mary got off to a slow start as Ottawa outscored the Spires 28-8 in the first quarter. The Spires trailed by 26 points at halftime, but cut the deficit down to 11 by the end of the game outscoring the Braves 32-20 in the fourth quarter.
The women's basketball team hosts Southwestern at 1pm on Saturday in the Ryan Sports Center.
