Women's Basketball Ends Regular Season With 12th Straight Win

The Saint Mary women's basketball team beat Bethany 73-61 on Senior Night in the Ryan Sports Center on Saturday. It is the 12th straight win of the season for the Spires who finish the regular season 18-11 overall and 16-6 in KCAC play. It is the best season in program history for the Spires. Saint Mary will be the #3 seed in the KCAC Tournament.

The Spires got out to a rough start as they were outscored 14-6 in the first quarter, but the Spires quickly erased the deficit in the second quarter as they outscored Bethany 26-12 to lead by six points at halftime. Saint Mary would push their lead out to 23 points in the second half before eventually taking the 12 point victory.

Imani White led all scorers with 22 points. Kelsey Switzer scored 13 points, four assists, and three steals. Gabby Hacker and White led the Spires in rebounds with six. Ashley Hinkle had five assists. 17 different players saw minutes in the win for Saint Mary. The Spires shot 50% from the field and 44% from three point range.

The Spires will host #6 seed Sterling at 7pm on Thursday in the KCAC Quarterfinals. Saint Mary went 1-1 against Sterling in the regular season. The Spires beat Sterling 75-72 at home on January 25.
