Saint Mary Men Tripped Up at York

The Saint Mary men's basketball team took an 83-66 loss at York on Saturday. The Spires are now 8-8 on the season and 6-4 in KCAC play.

Saint Mary started slow as York built an 11-4 lead in the opening minutes, but the Spires clawed their way back with an 8-0 run to take their first lead of the game at the 13:46 mark in the first half. Saint Mary led by as many as four points in the first half and the teams were tied entering halftime.

York jumped on the Spires early again in the second half with an 11-3 run to lead by eight with 15:48 on the clock. After Saint Mary trimmed the deficit to five, it was all York the rest of the way as the Spires struggled to find an offensive rhythm.

Saint Mary shot just 34% from the field in the loss. Three Spires would score in double digits. Edvonte Copeland led the way with 16 points. Teyvon Lundy added 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Payton Meek finished with 14 points, making all four of his three point attempts.

The men's basketball team will be back in action on Wednesday when they host McPherson at 8pm in the Ryan Sports Center. McPherson is 1-9 in KCAC play and 4-14 overall.
