Leavenworth, Kan. – The University of Saint Mary men's basketball team won their conference home opener in a thriller against the Bethel Threshers 73-67 in Ryan Sports Center. The Spires are 1-0 in the KCAC and 1-3 overall.
GAME FLOW.
The Spires went on an 8-0 run after trailing 5-0 to the Threshers in the opening minutes of the game. After a close first half, Saint Mary led 32-29. Dan Hailey had a big night, where he was just short of a double-double with 14 rebounds and eight points. After a back and forth battle Raylon Howard knocked down a clutch three pointer to put Saint Mary up 66-65 with fifty-one seconds left in the game. Cameron Southern would then extend the lead by making the front end of his two free-throws, and grabbed a huge offensive rebound after he missed the second free-throw. The Spires held on and won 73-67.
