YORK, Neb. – Rodney Smith and the University of Saint Mary men's soccer team pulled off a 2-1 win victory on the road against York College Saturday afternoon, to snap a two match losing streak. Smith scored both goals for the Spires in the game.
Saint Mary is now 3-5-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the KCAC on the season.
GAME FLOW
Saint Mary got on the board first in the 10th minute when Smith gave the team a 1-0 lead, which would be the score at halftime. York took a majority of shots in the first half, but Spires goalkeeper Blake Kuehl made three saves in the period.
York would tie the match at one apiece with just over 30 minutes left in the match, as Albert Bajrami scored. In the 68th minute the Spires would break the tie as Smith added his second goal of the game. The senior received a pass from Jay Willcutt before striking it into the net to give the Spires the lead.
