Womens Soccer Falls To Ottawa Saturday

OTTAWA, KAN. – The University of Saint Mary women's soccer team fell to Ottawa University, 2-1 in a close one Saturday night on the road.

The Spires are now 4-6-2 on the season, 2-4-2 KCAC.

Ottawa was first to take a shot minutes into the game, but would miss just high. Later, the whistle was blown and the Spires had the opportunity to get on the board. Emily Wilson took the penalty kick and was able to score the first goal of the game putting them up 1-0. The Braves would respond with a goal of their own to tie the game up. The game was tied at the half, 1-1.

Kadejah Ross took the first shot of the second half but would miss just wide. Moments later, Ottawa took the lead to make the score 2-1. The Spires stayed aggressive on offense, but were unable to score on their shots and fell on the road.

Saint Mary had six shots as team, with three on goal. Megan McMillen and Ross led the team with two shots. Natasha Webster and Wilson each took one shot. Lauryn Airy had three saves in goal.

UP NEXT
The Spires return home next Tuesday to take on 25th ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University. The game is set to begin at 5 p.m.
