Leavenworth, Kansas – The University of Saint Mary men's basketball team soared by McPherson to complete the conference sweep against the Bulldogs. It was an offensive show as 13 players scored on the night for the Spires. The final score was 85-58.
The Spires are now 12-15 overall and 12-10 KCAC.
GAME FLOW
It was back and forth for the first few minutes. The Bulldogs only lead of the game was at the 17:21 mark in the first half, before a bucket by Dan Hailey sparked the Spires dominance the rest of the way. With five seconds remaining in the half, Donovan Sinegal sunk another bucket to put the Spires up 53-29 going into halftime. The 53 points at halftime was the most by the team this season since December 15th in their last meeting with McPherson. Saint Mary continued to dominate for the rest of the game and there were some big plays by the bench, including a dunk by Brad Hailey that cleared the bench with excitement.
Raylon Howard led the Spires with 19 points and had five rebounds. Tevin Killeen finished with 10 points and five rebounds. As a team, the Spires shot 51.7 percent from the field and had 16 assists. The Saint Mary bench also scored 40 points.
WHATS AHEAD FOR THE SPIRES
Saint Mary travels to Lindsborg, Kan. where they will take on Bethany College in their last road game of the regular season. Tip-off is set for 8 pm.
