GAME FLOW
Alex Guevara-Moya started things off for the Spires with a shot down the left field line and would later score after a sacrifice fly hit by Daunte Freeman. McPherson responded with a run to tie the game up in the second inning before getting hot in the third. The Bulldogs had two outs when Trevor Johnson hit a three run home run on a 3-1 count. They would stay hot in the fourth and score four more runs to put them up 8-2.

In the sixth inning, the Spires began to make their way back into the game when Alexis Ramos doubled deep to left. Guevara-Moya followed with a single to move Ramos into scoring position. Peyton Garvin then hit a sacrifice fly to right to score a run for Saint Mary. The rally continued as Freeman singled to advance the runners, who later scored after another sacrifice fly hit by David Ramirez.

Saint Mary's defense held McPherson scoreless in the sixth and seventh inning to add to their momentum. Troy Hughes reached base on a walk in the bottom of the seventh inning. Three singles in a row, hit by Ashton Findley, Daniel Gonzales and Ramos allowed Saint Mary to inch their way back into the game. The bases were loaded with one out when a wild pitch got passed the catcher and turned into an out when Garvin was caught in a pickle and tagged out.

In the ninth inning, Saint Mary trailed 11-8 but did not fold. Gonzales bunted and reached on a base hit to begin the rally. Guevara-Moya and Freeman both then reached on a walk to put runners into scoring position. Oscar Osorio hit a single to bring in a run to keep the game going. Twice, the Spires were down to the last strike and were able to reach base on a walk. The Spires came close, but fell just short to the Bulldogs.
