Spires Fall To KCAC Foe Ottawa

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – A tough shooting night for the University of Saint Mary women's basketball team led to the Spires falling 70-44 to Ottawa University Wednesday night inside the Ryan Sports Center.

The Spires are 1-3 overall and 1-2 in KCAC play.

Saint Mary struggled early on as Ottawa built a 10-2 lead in the first quarter. Ottawa would lead by just six points after the first period at 16-10. The Braves then scored 20 points in the second quarter, while holding Saint Mary to just 14 points over the next two quarters.

Saint Mary was unable to capitalize to mount a comeback as they fell in the end 70-44.

Lindsey Heim led the team with 10 points and Jerrica Johnson had eight points.

The Spires return to action Saturday when they travel to Tabor College for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
