LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – The University of Saint Mary flag football team defeated Milligan College 88-6 and Midland University 30-13 Friday afternoon at Charles J. Berkel Memorial Stadium.
The Spires are now 4-2 overall on the season.
MILLIGAN GAME
The Spires were hot from the start, putting up points left and right on Milligan College. Shian Galbreath was part of the first two touchdowns for the Spires, including a 48-yard touchdown pass to Shannon Cooley. Jerrica Johnson found a hole in the defense and went 30 yards for the third touchdown of the game, before Maea Ploetz scored on a pass from Galbreath.
The Spires continued to find the endzone as Anaya Hooks scored from five yards out and the game was set from there. The Spires put up more points down the stretch on their way to an 88-6 win.
MIDLAND GAME
Both teams went back and forth as Galbreath added a five yard touchdown pass to Ploetz, to start the scoring. Midland would then find the endzone, but Galbreath found Hooks for a short touchdown to give the Spires back the lead.
Midland would score one more touchdown before the Spires scored three more times to secure the 30-13 win.
