Hillsboro, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Soccer team took on Tabor College for a weekend matchup, resulting in a 2-1 win over the Blue Jays. The Spires are now 2-9-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the KCAC.
Things were slow going for both teams in the first half. Saint Mary and Tabor traded off shots, but neither team could find the back of the net. Kylie Wilson nearly gave the Spires the lead heading into halftime but narrowly missed.
The second half saw all the scoring Tabor got on the board first with a goal fifteen minutes into the second period to take a 1-0 lead. Saint Mary pressed hard after giving up the goal, and in the seventy-fifth minute, Kelsey Ray tied things up at 1-1. The Spires continued the offensive pressure as time was winding down. Then, with two minutes to go, Wilson scored the game-winning goal for Saint Mary sealing a 2-1 victory. Goalie Maea Ploetz helped the Spires out on defensie with six saves on the day.
