Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Baseball team hosted Benedictine College on Wednesday, resulting in a 10-8 loss. The Spires are now 4-4 on the season.
Saint Mary gave up one run in the first inning after an errant throw from the catcher gave the Ravens a 1-0 lead. Starter Cale Fields made quick work of the Benedictine lineup in the top half of the second. The Spires took back the lead in the bottom half of the inning when Kruz Wahwahsuck hit a two-run RBI to give Saint Mary a one-run lead. Benedictine responded in the following inning, scoring six runs off of four hits and an error. Reliever Samuel Yancey came in to end the run-filled inning by the Ravens.

After multiple walks and hit-by-pitches for USM in the eighth inning, things were all tied up at 8-8. Benedictine broke the deadlock in the top of the ninth with a two-run home run.
