Men's Basketball Get Road Win Over York

York, Neb.- The University of Saint Mary men's Basketball team hit the road to play the York Panthers on Wednesday, resulting in an 81-57 win. The Spires are now 9-10 overall and 5-8 in conference play.

Saint Mary took the momentum from York early with a dunk from Tre Alexander and a three from Demarius Houston to get things going. Houston continued to add to the growing Spire lead with another three and a layup to make it a 14-7 ball game. The Panthers began to chip away at the score and come within four points of the USM win with under four minutes left in the half. A critical three from Kaden Bonner and a dunk from Joey Schultz gave Saint Mary a five-point 29-24 lead heading into the break.

York had a fast start in the second half and made it a one-point game just a minute in. However, Alexander and Houston again hit shots to re-establish their comfortable lead. Saint Mary continued to press offensively, and after an 8-3 scoring run, USM had an 11-point 53-42 lead. With under five minutes left, Houston hit his fifth three of the game to give the Spires a 22-point lead. Saint Mary hit four more threes down the stretch to give the Spires an 81-57 win.
