Late 3rd Quarter Run Overtakes Spires in 97-82 Loss at Williams Baptist

WALNUT RIDGE, AR. - The University of Saint Mary women's basketball team put up a strong fight but ultimately fell short in a 97-82 loss to Williams Baptist (AR) on the road. Despite leading by seven points at halftime, the Spires were outpaced in the second half, with Williams Baptist making a decisive 28-11 run in the third quarter to take control of the game.

Saint Mary showcased impressive offensive efficiency, shooting 49.2% from the field and 40.7% from three-point range. Demi Aamold and Alanis Delgado led the scoring for the Spires with 13 points each. Aamold hit two three-pointers and shot 45.5% from the field, while Delgado contributed six rebounds and four assists, adding strength on both ends of the court. Keely Barnard also scored 13 points, going 3-for-7 from beyond the arc, and Alyche Brown was solid with 12 points, shooting 66.7% from the field.

The Spires out-rebounded Williams Baptist 44-42 and had solid contributions from their bench, with Paige Spencer scoring seven points in just nine minutes and Kate Harter grabbing eight rebounds along with her four points.

The Spires are now 1-3 overall and will look to regroup and build on their early-season performances as they prepare for their next matchup against College of the Ozarks at home next Wednesday, November 13th at 7pm.
