Spires Post a Senior Day Shutout

Leavenworth, Kan.-The University of Saint Mary Spires secured a statement 6-0 victory against the Bethany College (KS) Swedes on Senior Day at Berkel Memorial Stadium in Leavenworth. This impressive win brings their current season record to 5-3-4, with a conference record of 3-1-3.

The game kicked off with high intensity, and the Spires took an early lead thanks to senior Rebecca Lord, who found the net in the 19th minute with an assist from fellow senior Jaidyn Cavalieri. This early strike set the tone for the rest of the match, and Saint Mary held a 1-0 lead by halftime, securing their dominance gradually. The defensive efforts were anchored by senior goalie Angelica Quintana-Aficial, who maintained a clean sheet throughout the match.

The second half saw the Spires capitalize on their opportunities, extending their lead with goals from Natalie Flores, Kennia Acuna-Soto, Kate Erpelding, and Avi Garrett, alongside another from Rebecca Lord, who completed her brace. Assists from Andrea Morando complemented the team's aggressive style of play on the day, racking up a total of 34 shots taken versus the Swedes 3 shots.

Rebecca Lord, notable for her two goals and an assist, led the charge, contributing significantly to the team's offensive strategy.
