Spire soccer faced off against the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes in a competitive KCAC Saturday match-up in a Despite a strong effort, the Spires fell short with a final score of 2-1 in Salina at the Graves Family Sports Complex.
The first half of the match concluded with Kansas Wesleyan leading 1-0, after the Coyotes were the first to strike, however not until the 41
st minute. Junior goalkeeper,
Avah Casarez, held strong for the Spires, clenching four important saves. However, it was Kansas Wesleyan who managed to maintain the 1-0 lead at the half.

The second half saw KWU again getting the late goal in the 81
st minute, making it 2-0 in favor of the Coyotes. The Spires continued to battle as senior
Rebecca Lord struck a late goal in the 86
th minute assisted by
Natalie Flores, this goal brought the Spires back into contention. A spirited comeback attempt that just came too late. Â Nevertheless, Talia Walsh of Kansas Wesleyan secured the win with a game-winning goal, concluding the match at a final score of 2-1.
