Skiatook, Okla.—The Spires had an unbeaten opening weekend at the Tulsa Challenge hosted by Oklahoma Wesleyan University, as they took down the Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies at Skiatook High School on Saturday November 1
st with a final score of 88-80.
The game had high energy from the jump as
Damare Smith opened the scoring with a 3-pointer, assisted by
Jordan Brown. Successive three-pointers from
Kaeden Bonner and
Jordan Brown extended their early lead. Key Spire,
Kaeden Bonner, contributed significantly throughout the half with multiple 3-pointers and layups, pushing the Spires to a 13-point lead. USM dominated the first period, culminating in a 47-34 lead at the break.
In the second half, the Grizzlies attempted a comeback with strong inside scoring and free throws. Despite this pressure, the Spires maintained poised in their lead, anchored by rebounds from
Joe Clark.
Kaeden Bonner continued his impressive shooting streak with key three-pointers, while
Jason Parson's put-back tip-in further reinforced Spire momentum, the largest being 16 points early in the period. Saint Mary kept their composure to finish the period comfortably on top.

Jordan Brown also made substantial contributions with 14 points and pivotal assists.
Jason Parson was a key defensive player with 9 rebounds adding to his 11 points. Looking ahead, the Spires will face Midland University in their home opener at Ryan Sports Center on Tuesday, November 4th with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
