The Spire volleyball team traveled to Lindsborg, Kansas in Hahn Gymnasium on Saturday, September 20
th. The thrilling five-set match concluded with the Spires clinching a narrow 3-2 victory, improving their season record to 11-5.
The match began with the Spires setting a strong pace, winning the first set 25-20. However, the Swedes responded by taking the next two sets 25-19 each, putting the Spires under pressure. Undeterred, USM bounced back to win the fourth set 25-20, pushing the match to a decisive fifth set. The final set was strongly contested, with the Spires securing a 16-14 win, ultimately claiming the match victory.
Familiar key players significantly contributed to the Spires' success.
Chloe Byrd led with 14 kills and 6 blocks, while
Saige Hadley added 12 kills and served 2 aces.
MJ Stephens also made crucial contributions with 12 kills, 3 aces, and 15 digs.
Gabby Kurle facilitated the defense with 18 digs.
Addison Baker was instrumental with 32 assists throughout the game.
Looking ahead, the Spires are set to face Southwestern College at the Ryan Sports Center on Wednesday, September 24th.
