Leavenworth, Kan.—USM T&F has wrapped up their weekends at ESU and Northwestern in successful fashion. Look for more T&F action this week as USM hits the road again splitting the weekend at the Kip Janvrin Invite hosted by Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa as well as the Drake Relays hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Both meets will be kicking off on Thursday, April 23
rd through Friday, April 24

Northwestern Open—At the multis in Orange City,
Kylee Sipes and
Makayla Lockard put their best foot forward in the women's Heptathlon. Kylee would place 11
th overall and tally a final mark of 2203 with Makayla close behind in 12
th place with 2136 total points.
All three Spire men competing in the men's decathlon would place in the top 12. Senior
Justin Johnston would finish the highest out of the USM athletes, finishing 4
th overall with a final total of 5430 points.
Logan Hammersmith came in 9
th place with 4900 points over the weekend while teammate
Dawson Troth would earn a 12
th place finish with 4687 points.
ESU Relays—To kick things off,
Mesa Casper would finish 3
rd overall in the women's 10K with a final finish of 42:11.04.
Abigail White would battle it out in the women's 3,000m SC, taking home 2
nd place by a slim margin of just a ten second difference with a final time of 11:53.54.
The Spire women's 4x100 relay consisting of
Deslyne Cooper,
Haley Sampson,
Jordyn Miller-Knuckles, and
Keiyah Cole would post a thrilling performance with a final time of 46.73 seconds. This mark would earn them a 5
th place finish in the gritty race but also earn them a new best time to snatch the NAIA No. 11 spot.
On the men's side, the Spires 4x100 team consisting of
Noah Arndt,
Karlos Humphreys,
Daniel Craig, and
Tristain Rogers also brought home 5
th place overall with a final mark of 41.52 seconds, moving them up to No. 32 in all of NAIA.
Mohamed Elgossy and
Zackary Zumwalt would finish 7
th and 8
th overall, respectively, out of twenty-five competing athletes. Elgossy would finish with a final time of 4:10.23 with Zumwalt crossing the finish line at 4:11.60.
Jordyn-Miller Knuckles would claim 6
th overall in the women's 100m hurdles, an event that she's earned her spot in on the national stage next month in North Carolina. Miller-Knuckles would speed to the finish line at a time of 14.37 seconds.
Another Spire standout hurdler,
Omarion Udell, would have a photo finish to take home 5
th place in the men's 110m hurdles. His top five placement came with a final time of 14.94 seconds. Teammate
Blaize Vaughn would finish in 9
th place overall with a final time of 15.37 seconds.
Haley Sampson and
Deslyne Cooper made their marks in the women's 400m sprint. Haley finished in 6
th overall with a final time of 55.92, moving her up to the No. 15 overall in NAIA. Deslyne would be close behind with an 8
th place finish and a final finish of 56.77 seconds.
Liv Lohf would represent in the women's 800m race. Liv came in 10
th overall out of twenty athletes with a final time of 2:27.14.
Sampson and Cooper took their 400 success and translated that to the women's 200m sprint.
Haley Sampson would come in 6
th place overall with a final time of 24.60 seconds, again moving her up on the national rankings to #20 in the NAIA.
Deslyne Cooper would also move up on the national scale, coming in 10
th overall at a time of 24.85 seconds, moving her to No. 37 in all of NAIA.
The USM men's 4x800 relay team would have a phenomenal finish in Emporia, coming in 1
st overall.
Austin Howell, Jonah McGivern,
Marte Hailey, and
Owen Dierenfeldt would finish with a final time of 8:01.05, earning them the No. 20 spot in all of NAIA.
Moving into the men's 5,000m race,
Prince Ntozo and
James White finished in the top ten. Prince would come in 7
th overall with a final finish of 15:57.50 with James coming in 8
th overall with a final time of 16:04.45.
USM showed out in the field events at Emporia as well.
Nolan Norberto came in 8
th place overall in the men's discus with a final mark of 42.28m. Fellow Spire
Robert Hennig would come in 10
th place overall with a heave of 41.71m.
