Wichita, Kan.- The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) and Barnes & Noble College announced that 12 women's bowling student-athletes were named 2022-23 KCAC Scholar-Athletes on Thursday. The Spires were also named the 2022-23 KCAC Women's Bowling Team of Character this season.
The University of Saint Mary had three honorees, which was the second most in the conference. The All-KCAC Scholar-Athlete Academic Award recognizes excellence in the classroom by KCAC member student-athletes who:
- are sophomores or above in academic standing at the beginning of the semester in which they compete.
- carry a minimum 3.250 cumulative GPA at the beginning of the semester in which they compete.
- student-athletes must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at the KCAC institution to be eligible.

The Women's team also was named the 2022-23 KCAC Team of Character. By keeping the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership at the heart of the athletics experience, the Champions of Character program empowers participants to change the culture of sport. Brianna Hubenett was the Saint Mary Champions of Character Student-Athlete this year.
The Spires were involved in a variety of service projects around their campus/community. Those include, but are not limited to:
- "Feed the Need" - a project that fed food-insecure families in the Leavenworth community.
- City-wide garbage bag dispersal.
- A member serving as part of new student orientation on campus.
- A member volunteering at the Ronald McDonald house and packing care packages.
